About

Layovers, tested between flights

Roamquill exists for one reason: to answer the questions you actually have during a long connection — and to answer them from experience, not guesswork.

Why this site exists

I fly between Oslo and Karachi more often than I'd like to admit, and that route has handed me every kind of layover imaginable — the four-hour dash into a city, the miserable overnight on a cold bench, the eight-hour window that turned into one of my favourite travel days. Along the way I kept hitting the same questions and finding only vague, contradictory answers online. Roamquill is the resource I wish I'd had: specific, honest, and grounded in real connections.

How I research and test guides

Every guide here starts from a real question and gets pressure-tested against how airports and airlines actually work — not how a brochure says they do. When I write about leaving an airport, I've usually done it. When I haven't been somewhere personally, I say so, and I lean on official airport, airline and government sources rather than repeating rumours. Timings, visa rules and prices change, so I date every article and update it when things move.

Tested, not guessed

Guides come from real layovers and verified sources, with honest limits noted.

Specific & practical

Hour-by-hour plans and clear thresholds, not filler you can't act on.

Kept current

Every page is dated and revisited when rules, times or prices change.

A note on accuracy

Roamquill is an independent guide, not an airline, airport or government body. Visa requirements, minimum connection times and prices vary by nationality, route and date — always confirm the critical details with official sources before you fly.
